βAdding a Medicine to SmartCarePlus
SmartCarePlus lets you seamlessly manage your medicine inventory, from specifications to stock, packaging, and compliance. Follow this structured step-by-step guide to add a new medicine and keep your pharmacy operations running smoothly.
βπ Step 1: Access Medicines
Start by opening the drawer menu and selecting Inventory. Tap on Medicines, then click the Add icon in the bottom right corner to begin adding a new medicine.
βπ Step 2: Basic Information
Enter essential information about the medicine to establish its identity in your system.
- Upload Images (Optional) β You can upload multiple

or.jpeg
images of the medicine, packaging, or branding. Thereβs no limit on the number of images. - Medicine Name β Required field. Enter the name by which this medicine will be identified.
- Generic Name (Optional) β Add the chemical or active ingredient name, useful for grouping.
- Brand Name (Optional) β Mention the commercial brand, if applicable.
- Manufacturer Name (Optional) β Select from a list of 100+ manufacturers or choose Other to enter a custom one. You can search within the list too.
Tap the forward arrow to move to the next step.
ββοΈ Step 3: Medicine Specifications
Define the medicine's physical and regulatory attributes.
- Form β Select the dosage form (e.g., Tablet, Syrup) or use Other to specify a new form.
- Route β Choose how the medicine is administered (e.g., Oral = by mouth), or add a custom route.
- Strength β Select or enter the strength, like 500mg or 5ml, based on how the medicine is dosed.
- HSN Code β Pick from standard HSN codes related to medicines, or input a custom one for tax reporting.
- Tax Rate β Choose from Not Applicable, 5%, 12%, or 18%, depending on the applicable GST.
- Schedule β Select from categories like OTC, G, H, H1, or X to comply with regulatory schedules.
Tap the forward arrow to proceed.
βπ¦ Step 4: Package & Pricing
Define how the medicine is sold and priced at different levels of packaging.
Tap Add Package to begin. For each package, youβll enter:
- Package Name β Describe the packaging, e.g., Strip of 10 Tablets, Box of 10 Strips.
- Package Type β Select from standard options like Bottle, Box, Strip, or enter a custom one. If itβs the smallest unit sold, choose Loose.
- Units per Package β Specify how many smaller units are inside (e.g., 10 tablets in a strip).
- Minimum Stock β Set a threshold for this package to alert when stock gets low.
- MRP / Unit Price β Define the Maximum Retail Price or per-unit price at which this will be sold.
- Discount β Optionally set a discount percentage on the price.
If the package isn't marked as Loose, sub-packages will be created automatically. You can configure the same fields for each sub-package.
π§Ύ Example Setup:
- Box of 10 Strips of 10 Tablets β Strip β Tablet (Loose), each with its own stock, price, and discount.
You can delete any package or sub-package using the trash icon on the card.
Tap the forward arrow to continue.
βπ Step 5: Add Stock Entries
Now, add stock for each package you created. Tap Add Stock and fill out the details:
- Package β Choose the relevant package for which youβre adding stock.
- Batch No. β Enter the batch number to track medicine origin and quality.
- Expiry Date β Input the expiry to avoid selling expired stock.
- Manufacturing Date (Optional) β Useful for calculating shelf life or product age.
- Quantity β Enter the total number of units youβre adding for this package.
π Note: Stock can only be added once packages have been created.
Tap the forward arrow to move to the final step.
βπ Step 6: Review Summary
Youβll now see a complete summary of the entered details:
- Basic info: Medicine Name, Generic, Brand, Manufacturer
- Specs: Form, Route, Strength, HSN, Tax, Schedule
- Packaging: All main and sub-packages with pricing and stock thresholds
- Stock: All batch-wise stock entries
Carefully review the summary. To make edits, go back to the specific section. Once confirmed, tap the Save icon at the bottom right to finalize.
π Your medicine is now added to SmartCarePlus and ready for inventory tracking, sales, and compliance.
